හාලිඇල ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාශයට අයත් හපුවලකුඹුර ග්රාම නිලධාරි වසමේ කොළඹ බදුල්ල ප්රධාන මාර්ගයේ 7 වන සැතපුම් කණුව ආසන්නයේ මාර්ගය 2024.01.09 දින රාත්රි 9.00ට පමණ නායයෑමකට ලක්වී ඇත. මෙම නායයෑමෙන් කොළඹ බදුල්ල මාර්ගය රථවාහන ධාවනය සඳහා සම්පුර්ණයෙන් අවහිර වී ඇත.
මෙම ස්ථානය 2024.01.10 දින ජාතික ගොඩනැගිලි පර්යේෂණ සංවිධානයේ නිලධාරීන් විසින් පරීක්ෂණයට ලක් කොට ඇති අතර නාය සුනබුන් ඉවත් කිරිමට සහ නායගිය ප්රදේශයේ තවදුරටත් සිදුවිය හැකි භුමි අස්ථාවරවීම් වැලැක්වීමට අවශ්ය උපදෙස් ලබා දී ඇත.

National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), The SmartMind team from University of Moratuwa and Manchester University, UK are collaborating in order to develop a ChatBot
On December 29th, 2023, National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), SmartMind team from the Urban Simulation Lab at the Department of Town and Country Planning, University of Moratuwa and Manchester University, UK held a discussion on a research project focused on creating a ChatBot. This Chatbot focuses on addressing certain disaster scenarios, with a primary emphasis on managing the risks associated with landslides, disseminating evacuation protocols, providing detailed information about resilient building construction, and providing relevant risk-related information. The Chatbot's training includes an extensive range of data to assist in landslide scenarios.
NBRO Commence the Duties for the New Year 2024 Ceremonially
The first working day in the New Year 2024 at National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) was ceremonially commenced this morning with the presence of Director General of NBRO Eng. (Dr.) Asiri Karunawardena.
Preparation and Establishment of a Unified National Building Code for Sri Lanka
Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL), a team lead by National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA) and Urban Development Authority (UDA) is in the process of development of a Unified National Building Code for Sri Lanka. Accordingly, as per the request of GoSL team, the World Bank initiated a Technical Assistance to conceptualize the Sri Lankan Building Code and the conceptualization phase to conclude in December 2023. The conceptualization of Sri Lankan Building Code to be performed along with reviewing current building approval process and reviewing existing capacity of officials and practitioners with the consultation of wider stakeholder group representing public sector agencies, academia, professional institutions and practitioners. The final validation workshop of the task was successfully conducted by Arup International Projects Limited, the World Bank commissioned technical consultant, on 13th and 14th of December 2023 at the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka. The validation conducted under four phases of the building code conceptualization process as listed below;
1) Setting out code technical requirements
2) Organization of code document delivery
3) Updating approval and enforcement processes
4) Planning awareness raising, training and capacity building
With the conclusion of conceptualization phase of the building code by December 2023, the next step involves the initiation of actual code development with the consultation of all the stakeholders. It is expected to be complete the actual code development within two years of time.
